Calligram Project
Calligram Project
Artist Statement:
I was inspired by my passion for protecting the ocean. Sharks have very distinct shapes and I thought it would look very unique for the calligram project. I was also inspired to make a marine animal because my personal letter to myself was about my current goals and thoughts about my future. I hope that I will be able to learn more about the ocean and help preserve it. Several shark species are endangered and this needs to be in the light. A lot of my art reflects my passions. I hope that I can use my art to make people aware of how we affect marine life and make them want to learn about how to save them.
Process:
In Adobe Illustrator, I used the curve tool to form the shape of the shark. I struggle with the pen tool and I found that the curve tool was a lot simpler, especially since I did not have many straight lines to trace. I struggled with the text inside the shape. This project took a lot of time and patience. I really struggled with the eyedropper tool for some reason, but I learned a lot. Overall, the project turned out pretty great.
I am a big shark lover, and free dive with tiger sharks a lot back home, so I really like your choice here.
