Calligram Project

Calligram Project Artist Statement:       I was inspired by my passion for protecting the ocean. Sharks have very distinct shapes and I thought it would look very unique for the calligram project. I was also inspired to make a marine animal because my personal letter to myself was about my current goals and thoughts about my future. I hope that I will be able to learn more about the ocean and help preserve it. Several shark species are endangered and this needs to be in the light. A lot of my art reflects my passions. I hope that I can use my art to make people aware of how we affect marine life and make them want to learn about how to save them.     Process:         In Adobe Illustrator, I used the curve tool to form the shape of the shark. I struggle with the pen tool and I found that the curve tool was a lot simpler, especially since I did not have many straight lines to trace. I struggled with the text inside the shape. This p...

Illustrator Homework 1

Video 1 The pen tool can be used to draw simple shapes and designs. I understand how to draw straight lines, but the drawing curves are a little more complicated. I think this is the hardest tool in this video. You have to hold down a key while moving the mouse. I think the easiest tool is the text box. This is similar to the Microsoft applications. This video was very helpful because it went through each tool with a simple explanation. It was not overwhelming. Video 2 The type on a path seems like a really unique tool that I need a lot more practice with. There are several different ways to create a shape for it. I was having trouble moving it because it is very sensitive. I kept accidentally moving it into my circle instead of the outside. This video was very helpful and I hope there are more like it that I can use in the future. Video 3 In this video, I learned different shortcuts for essential tools. This is very helpful instead of having to go to the toolbar every time to d...

Canvas Project

Artist Statement: My art is inspired by my hobbies and passions. My creations are unique because they reflect me and there is not anyone exactly like me. I usually like to express what I am interested in, so I can give others the opportunity to try and enjoy my passions. I think it is important to share what brings joy in someone's life.  In this project, I created a scuba diver in its natural habitat. I currently am a scuba diver intern at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. I am there 5 days a week, so lately it has been my life. I enjoy it very much and I think everyone should at least try it once in their life. I hope with this piece of artwork it can inspire others to change up their life and try something unique. This was significant to me because my future career goal is to be an underwater photographer.  This project was very challenging for me because I have never coded in my life. I appreciate the people who code all the time even more because it takes a lot of ti...
